Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground has unveiled log cabins that combine the comfort of a fine hotel suite with the rustic surroundings of a unique forest setting.

The log cabins replace Wilderness Homes which will be phased out by the year 2000.

The 120 log cabins are designed to compliment the resort's Northwest Territory theming. Oak-colored logs adorn the exterior, detailed with hunter green windows and a full deck with a picnic table. A cozy interior fully designed with warm winter colors, window treatments, area rugs and attention to detail sleeps up to six people. The master bedroom provides a full-size bed and twin-size bunk beds, all dressed to entice a good night's sleep under the stars in a warm and relaxing country feeling.

To smooth the edges of "roughing it," the cabins are fully equipped with all the amenities, such as daily maid service, air conditioning, telephone, dishes, utensils, appliances, linens and a full kitchen.

The new log cabins also feature two television sets, one in the bedroom and the other, complete with a VCR, in the living room. This cozy living area comes with a pull-down, full-size bed and an oval dining table. The chairs appear to be made out of trees and a lantern hanging over the table adds a special touch to the country setting.

Fort Wilderness plans to replace all of its 418 Wilderness Homes with these new log cabins by the year 2000.

The resort offers 784 individual camping sites with full hookups on 700 acres of lush vegetation with tall pines, white flowering bay trees and other flora.

Log cabins range in price from $204-$275 per night and may be booked by calling a travel agent or 407/W-DISNEY.

Located 20 miles southwest of Orlando in Central Florida, Walt Disney World is a 30,000-acre resort that includes the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios theme parks, three themed water parks, world-class resort hotels, Disney Institute, Downtown Disney shopping/nightlife district and other magical attractions and recreational centers.
