Resort Traditionally
enjoyed by vacation guests from around the world, Disney’s Contemporary Resort,
with its fresh look and expanded convention facilities, now is attracting more
association and corporate groups than ever before.
To meet demands for quality meeting space, the landmark, 1,041-room Walt Disney World resort has been expanded to offer more than 120,000 square feet of space, and the existing hotel has been completely renovated. The convention center, designed by noted architect Gwathmey-Siegal of New York,
connects to the Americas Level on the second-floor main building. Focal point
of the facility is the Fantasia Ballroom, featuring 44,800 feet of space. It
can accommodate 4,670 in theater-style seating or The Fantasia Ballroom subdivides into 15 meeting rooms. . . or it can be used for trade shows and exhibitions, accommodating up to 295 8-by-10-foot booths. Convenient truck access, including a loading dock and roll-up doors, permits easy set up and removal of exhibits. Also located in the main convention center is the 7,068-square-foot Nutcracker Ballroom, which accommodates 850 theater style and 540 in rounds of 10. In total, the new facility can provide up to 23 break-out rooms. The convention center expansion was combined with an extensive refurbishment of existing convention space, lobby, guest-registration area, guest rooms and suites.
Renovation of meeting space in the main building also was recently completed. The Ballroom of the Americas offers 11,968 square feet of space accommodating 1,200 theater style and 900 for banquets. Also located on the Americas level is the 8,613-square-foot Grand Republic Ballroom, which can accommodate 1,050 theater style and 620 for banquets. In total, the Americas level offers nine break-out rooms plus a luxurious boardroom that seats 24. In addition, the Contemporary Resort offers three permanent convention registration counters and a business center with secretarial services, copy machine, computer, facsimile machine and meeting planners office. Dining options include Concourse Steak House, open for breakfast, lunch and
dinner in a new-age setting; California Grill, offering market inspired cuisine
and an on-stage kitchen; and Chef Mickey’s, Disney’s Contemporary Resort is situated in the Magic Kingdom resort area on the banks of Bay Lake, offering guests a spectacular view of Cinderella Castle. The resort is like no other in the world, with a monorail that runs through the fourth floor concourse transporting guests to Disney theme parks. Other amenities include water recreation, marina and luxury shopping. There is a fully equipped health club with sauna and tanning room. Disney’s Racquet Club offers six lighted clay courts, three practice backboards, automatic ball machine and pro shop with rental equipment. Tennis clinics led by professional instructors and featuring videotape stroke analysis can be arranged for individuals or groups. Golfers can hit the links at Disney’s championship golf courses, featuring 99 holes of golf on five 18-hole courses and a 9-hole walking course. Group guests can enjoy individual play or customized tournaments.
